Okay, gone yet?
It was definitely sweet justice seeing Jade go in the first half hour. I grudgingly admit that she took amazing photos, and was even learning to soften up (in her photos) a little. But man, that attitude never went away. And the things she would say! Had she won, it would NOT have helped the stereotype that models are dumb. Then again, had she not made it so far, I never would have learned that elephants are in the dinosaur family. Man, even thinking about that now makes me laugh out loud.
After the departure of Mollie Sue, Joanie and Danielle were my favorites, so I was very pleased to see them in the top two. Joanie edged out as my top pick, but honestly, I was glad she didn’t win. As much as I enjoy watching Top Model, I don’t think winning gives you a leg up into the modeling world AT ALL. I mean, have ANY of the other winners from previous cycles made it big, other than some Cover Girl commercials and the “My Life as a Cover Girl” spots during the show?
So perhaps by not winning, Joanie has a chance of becoming a REAL model, and not just a semi-reality show winner. I have my fingers crossed.
Another thing, before I forget. Tyra kept on and on about Danielle’s accent, saying a Top Model must be able to speak. No, a SPOKESPERSON must be able to speak. How many supermodels didn’t even speak English starting out? (I’m looking at you, Gisele.) Aye.
At any rate, congratulations Danielle and Joanie. May you turn out better than the girl who won the first cycle, who no one can remember the name of.
